The last couple of weeks have been about accomplishments :)
We were able to easily eliminate the pacifier. One of them got dirty and we told Josey we'd have to throw it away. She was perfectly fine with it; in fact, she fired it up into the air and hit the garbage can :) Then, anytime she asked for a paci later we would remind her it was dirty so we had to throw it away. Not much of a fussy and she hasn't asked for it since then! Woohoo! I thought for sure it'd be harder than that to get rid of it.
Josey has been interested in potty training since around 1 year of age. We have never pushed the issue with her. Over months, Josey would periodically decide she wanted to use the toilet but would always revert back to her diapers. Well, apparently the last week or so, she's decided that she wants to use the potty a lot more. We bought her little training underwear and sometimes she'll even ask to wear them without us making her. Don't get me wrong, she still isn't near completely potty trained but she's on the road to getting there. The best part...she's doing it all on her own! We're so proud of her. Oh, almost forgot the funny part! Josey has two twin BOY cousins that are 4 years of age. So like little kids, everyone is piled into the bathroom when they have to use the toilet. Josey watched the boys go potty so when it was her turn she pulled her pants down to her knees and tried to stand in front of the toilet :) Nice try kiddo!
Tidbits:
Josey's really gotten into her babydolls. She makes sure every one of them has a blanket. The best is when she swaddles one in a blanket, picks it up, and bounces around the room while singing a song trying to put the baby to sleep. We even bought her a bottle where the liquid disappears when you tip it upside down and she LOVES to feed her baby. Across the room, you'll all of a sudden here, "Baby HUNGRY!"
The only color that Josey knows: PINK. She has grown to have an obsession for the color pink. She wouldn't even let me put some shoes on her the other day b/c they weren't pink. I'm not sure where she gets this b/c I hated pink when I was a kid. Josey is 100% girl...and I'm loving it! LOL
Did you know that youtube.com is a toddler's favorite? Okay, so maybe all toddler's don't get to watch things on youtube.com but Josey loves it. Her favorite videos: a kitty picture singing happy birthday, Sesame Street's video of Elmo singing an ABC song with some lady, and river dancing chimps. She laughs her little butt off at most of the animal videos and is glued to the screen for Elmo. She breaks out into her ABC's watching the Elmo song so I'm hoping it helps her learn more of the alphabet b/c we only make it through E most of the time now.
I am so grateful for the group of friends that I have gained from work. The group of girls on my unit that have little girls close to Josey's age are life savers at times. We took a little mommy time the other day and got pedicures. It isn't often that we take time to ourselves and don't have all the kids with us. It was nice to hold a full conversation in one sitting and not running after our toddlers. Three of us from this group have also started meeting at the gym and working out together. It is a great motivator when you have a support group.
I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! For all of you unaware, my holiday is Friday: Black Friday shopping! It isn't so much about getting things but having the fun time spending it with family & friends and then getting breakfast early in the AM. Although, saving a ton of money on Christmas presents is a huge plus :) Love ya'll!
